Project Overview: I am working as an individual contributor for JP Morgan’s International Private Bank (IPB), where we focus on serving high-net-worth clients like innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders with liquidity exceeding $1 million. These clients are managed by financial advisors who use technology to provide seamless interactions. The ecosystem involves 11 platforms and 120 applications aimed at addressing:
Client onboarding & interactions
Personalized wealth management strategies
Data-driven insights and tailored solutions
Internal users include Front Office (Advisors), Client Services, Operations, Marketing, Events, and Senior Management, each utilizing the platform to cater to distinct client needs.
Challenges:
Interfacing with Legacy Systems: Our current banking systems use outdated protocols that are not easily compatible with modern frontend technologies.
Fragmented Systems: A lack of integration between the applications results in a disjointed user experience.
Balancing Roadmaps: There's a tension between addressing short-term fixes and maintaining a long-term strategic vision.
Third-Party Integrations & Legal Issues: We are working through the challenges of integrating third-party solutions and managing legal complexities.
Learning:
Gaining a deeper understanding of complex financial products.
Designing for high-net-worth clients, where personalization and attention to detail are paramount.
Shifting from just improving UX to tackling broader strategic improvements that influence the entire product ecosystem.
Influencing UX-centric methodologies across teams and workflows.
